Freud said that dreams are the “royal road to the unconscious” and dream analysis provides rich guidance and insights into the challenges in our life. Hypnosis helps uncover the hidden wisdom contained in dreams, providing a wealth of information about a person’s relationship to life and profound healing can occur while working in this deep state.
Using hypnosis, I interact and “converse” with every character in a dream addressing them as if they had a will and volition of their own; the villain, the child, the bystander and at times, even apparently inanimate objects. It’s important never to “demonise” any character in a dream no matter how “bad” they may appear – they’re all aspects of our own submerged consciousness and their voices need to be heard. What emerges is a detailed picture of where that person is blocked in their emotional development, and which life areas need greater focus and attention.
Recurrent dreams or nightmares occur for very definite reasons; they are attempting to process and resolve blocked emotional energy from a former unresolved period of our lives. The loss of a loved one, recurrent fears or stresses, a relationship that ended badly, all these factors may still come to haunt us years later and need to be put to rest.
When a recurrent dream disappears, it means that we have successfully processed and released some emotional imprint that occurred years before. For example if we no longer dream about failing to pass an exam, this could indicate, from the subconscious perspective, that the person has released some burden of fear or anxiety that now no longer limits their daily lives. Their life moves into a larger arena with wider possibilities.
