Fear prevents us moving forward into new areas of our lives; new relationships, new careers, new living space. Fear tries to keep us confined in an ever shrinking “comfort zone” where we seek out what is familiar and “safe”. Life that’s lived under a heavy burden of fear can become colourless, dull and predictable. Fear also wreaks havoc on our health: constricting, cramping and tightening our body as it uselessly burns up our energy.
So how do we slough off this deadening grip of fear and begin to live “outside the box”? The first step is to acknowledge that the fear is there; instead of trying to deny and push it away, to accept it and embrace it in compassion as you would a frightened child.
Maybe we experienced some early trauma that was never released or we’re living by a set of inherited beliefs that generate fear; beliefs that upon closer inspection turn out to be completely ungrounded.
I believe that many phobias also stem from some early trauma or they may even be a carryover from an ancestral experience. This is where the DofNA technique is invaluable because, if the person is ready, imbalances that are genetically inherited can be removed from their genetic memory, their bloodlines. If an ancestor had a very overwhelming and disempowering experience with water for instance, we may have inherited that cellar memory and ourselves have a phobia of water.
In many instances, a person will surround a highly traumatic experience in a bubble of amnesia in an attempt to protect themselves. Hypnosis has the capacity to bypass the controlling mind and work with these trapped memories in a safe way, removing the “charge” behind them at a rate and pace that feels safe for the person.
