QUANTUMpsychotherapy

Eugenie's professional training & experience

Long before I started my professional training I was fascinated by the nature of the mind - why it is that past conditioning can have such an influence on our present lives, and how it is that mental and emotional states can fluctuate so widely.

In 1986, after much research, I began an excellent 4 year course in London, with the UK Training College of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy which provided a very solid grounding in the skills of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy. I was fortunate during this period to benefit from many distinguished guest lecturers, learning from their special skills in particular forms of therapy such as imagery, gestalt, transactional analysis and of course the many applications of hypnosis. I started my own private practice during this time.

I went on to study for a further 2 years with Norman Vaughton, specific forms of advanced hypnotherapy relating to sexual abuse, drug abuse, and alcoholism. We also worked with grief counselling, and stress related disorders. One of the therapeutic skills we focussed upon was Dave Grove’s Wounded Child Within techniques. The subtelty and depth of these techniques helps heal the adult from childhood trauma by reintegrating those parts of themselves they've lost from that past abusive situation. Norman's teaching skills and extensive clinical experience were invaluable and I gained very special skills during these years.

One of the College’s requirements was that we receive psychotherapy for ourselves. I believe that one cannot effectively treat fear, pain and anger in others if it remains unresolved and unhealed within ourselves. I had the good fortune to meet a highly skilled therapist, Christopher Sullivan, whose background in spiritual psychotherapy - Psychosynthesis differed in many ways from my own. This provided me with the dual benefit of not only resolving my own emotional issues, but also in gaining valuable insights at first hand into other approaches to healing.

In subsequent years I attended many advanced therapy workshops specifically relating to working in greater depth with the symptoms of an abusive family; with adults who have been sexually abused or who suffered a traumatic childhood.

The Art of Living
In addition to my therapy practice, for several years I worked for the Art of Living - a charitable foundation with centers throughout the world. I led four day seminars that taught dynamic breathing exercises designed to rid the body of toxins and greatly re-energize it. Numerous life coping skills are also taught during these workshops. This humanitarian organization is known worldwide for its numerous charitable projects run by voluntary workers. I gained enormous experience from this group work and from the presentations I regularly gave to promote this organisation. I especially enjoyed facilitating these groups, and observing how in every instance, the participants changed so much over the duration of the 4 days - opening up to each other; enjoying a much greater depth of intimacy, self awareness - and also having lots of fun!

Seminary of Spiritual Peacemakers
In 2004 I took a course in Spiritual Peacemaking - led by James Twyman. The essence of this course is that we can only spread peace in the world when we are at peace within ourselves. This excellent 2 year course guided us to work dynamically on ourselves, to recognise and release all the fears and distractions that separte us from our own inner peace. We then worked in many ways to bring this wisdom and insight to the world around us by creating our own peace initiative. My project was to create and publish 6 CDs on self awareness. This course deepened my love of Life and my fellow humans. It strengthened my resolve to maintain a high level of self awareness that continues to serve me today in numerous ways.

Discharge of Neural Aspects – Quantum Psychology
In addition to working with the past; exploring the traumatic experiences of my clients’ childhood, I have in recent years learned to work ever more deeply with what surfaces in the present moment – to transforming what is occurring within the mind and body right NOW. This broader focus is the result of a 3 year course in Quantum Psychology where I learned to work from the “observer” or the “Zero point field” a place of dynamic focus and detachment. With this technique I can work through several layers of consciousness to reach the core problem. It is only by removing this core problem that really lasting change occurs. You can read more about this in the section on Discharge of Neural Aspects.

There is no such thing as a “one fix fits all” approach to therapy – individual healing needs are most dynamically met by therapy that is intuitively structured to that person’s needs. Therefore I use many different approaches and styles of therapy - with the clients who come to my Dublin practise in Monkstown, and the overseas clients with whom I work at a distance.

Over the many years of experience, my work has become more focussed on spiritual empowerment which, I believe, opens the way for people to gain deeper insights into the wisdom of their own soul and life purpose.

In the field of therapy one never stops learning. I have been growing in knowledge, understanding and compassion, and have enjoyed a successful and fulfilling practice for more than 20 years.
